My first Race!!

That's right I had my first race last Saturday! It was the Sophie Run in Corvallis 5K run/walk. That's 3.1 miles... I tried to prepare for it best I could, but like I had said before I didn't get as much in as I wanted. My time I had been run/walking was 40 minutes give or take a few seconds. I was SO EXCITED WHEN I CROSSED THAT FINISH LINE AND THE CLOCK READ 36.09!! I may have finished last in my little "valley group" but I was so so proud of myself that I finished the race and didn't die when I crossed that line. ;) Over all it was such a wonderful empowering moment for me and I can't wait for my next race!!

count down is on!!

I'm officially on the count down to my very first race! It has come so fast, don't know if I'm fully prepared for it but either way I'm super excited to run it or walk if need be. ;) I've been working for a couple months, but nothing like I should have been. I should have been working out 6 days a week with one day off, and my weeks looked more like 3 or 4 days on a good week. Yikes! So I'm going in to this 5K with an open mind and going to run AS MUCH AS I CAN!! I know there will be some walking breaks and I'm really OK with that, all that is important is I FINISH! After the race is all over we are going to head down to the beach for a little relaxing and fun!!
Please wish me luck, for I will need all I can get!

(this picture is what I feel like I look like when I'm running! lol)

adventure with fondant!

Today is my niece Kaitlyn's 10 birthday! She is in her double digits, scary I know. ;) Like my own kids I got a chance to make her cake and jumped on it. Hers is a little different then a dinosaur or tinkerbell. Karri and I researched different pictures and I had an idea of what I wanted to attempt and we ran with it. I decided the best way to do the decorating was to work with fondant. I have never touched the stuff but thought it would be a fun adventure, after all making cakes has turned in to one of my most favorite passions! It was lots of fun and I for sure would do it again. The overall cake was easy and I got through it, but ended up having some trouble with the bow. I had to use my scraps to do a new one. It looks pretty cute but I still have lots to learn and can't wait to do my next one!

Happy Birthday Kaitlyn hope you like your cake!

I cheated and used box cake. :)

The marble look pretty cool right before it went in to the oven

rolling out my first fondant!

What happens when little fingers explore the counter when moms not in the kitchen!

who needs sleep?

I am feeling like my eyes are only a quarter of the way open today. The last few weeks I have not been sleeping good. Don't know what my problem is but it's starting to catch up with me. Thank god I started drinking coffee again, cause I don't know what in the world I would do with out it! Last night was another toss and turn night, but I had company.. Miss Averee decided she couldn't sleep either and was up for a couple hours too, although she was fine, she was happy just laying in bed talking to the cat and petting her. Silly girl. Hoping I can get some much need rest tonight!

(thank the lord for my Molly and telling me to try Vaseline under my eyes at night to help with the lovely wrinkles that are forming more and more each day! It's actually taken away my dark bags under my eyes!! Can totally see the difference. Thank you MJ! Love you so much!)

Easter (well half of Easter)

I've been waiting for my sister to send me the rest of the Easter pictures but I'm tired of waiting so I will write and post what I have. Saturday Ryder had his first Soccer game, went pretty good but was super cold! My mom, brother, and niece were supposed to come over for Easter but due to the lovely on and off again crazy weather we have been having in Central Oregon the pass was to much of a mess for them to make it. This left my family and my sisters. :) My son couldn't go to sleep if his life depended on it Saturday night, so the Easter bunny had to stay up a little later then she wanted and was not happy about this. Finally he was off to dreamy land and I got the "baskets" (not really baskets this year, painted each one of them a box/tube thing for their rooms) all put together. Growing up we always had wonderful Easter baskets, stockings, Valentines, it was always the little gifts that my mom went all out for, that has carried on to my kiddos. I love these holidays! I tried to skimp on the candy this year, my kids, and well my family are really trying to cut out all the junk food. My daughter will only eat that if she knows it's anywhere in the house! They got spoiled! I will admit and to see them in the morning when they woke up I would do it all over again!! Averee got a new Cabbage Patch doll (I forgot how yummy they smell, in the store my sister and I kept sniffing the poor baby, haha) and Ryder got Toy Story 1 & 2. They loved every part of their baskets! After they ripped through their baskets it was off to find the eggs the Easter bunny hid. Another high light of Ryder's morning.Averee sportin her new shades and her new baby

On to the rest of the day.
Early afternoon my sister and her family came over for dinner. So good, I had a ham in the oven with home made potato salad, deviled eggs, strawberry cucumber salad, with veggies and rolls. SO GOOD!!! We did another big egg hunt with all the kids, and the afternoon turned in to a Wii competition and it seemed to end the day perfectly.
Hope you all had a wonderful EASTER!

She has been fussing and crying all day today and telling us her ears hurt. So back to the doctor we go tomorrow. Please just let my baby girl feel better!!

Was I in the wrong?

This is to all you moms out there that have your kids in daycare...
The little girl I watch is 31/2 years old, has been potty trained since last summer. She has never had any wetting problems with me at all, then all of a sudden in like the last month she has started peeing in her pants all the time! She has peed on my couch 3 times with in the last 3 weeks and she wet the bed today (she has never wet the bed at nap time) I have told her parents every time she pees in her pants and they shrug it off, and say "oh that's strange" no apologizing or anything! If it were me I would be apologizing left and right, but I guess that's just me... Obviously something is going on? what, I don't know. This poor girl has already been through quit a bit in her short little life. Today when her mom picked her up I told her what happened and that I thought it would be a good idea that they bring a pack of pull ups for my house. Was I in the right for asking for this?
I can't handle my furniture and now beds smelling like pee!! I have been very fortunate to have both my kids not be bed wetters and have never had to deal with this kind of thing.
Please someone, have ANY insight they can give me!?

First Soccer Game!

Ryder had his first soccer game today! It was his first EVER! He did pretty good, but I think mama and daddy are going to have to toughen him up a little this week to prepare for next week. ;)
